This is the only recording I can find of ‘To Be A Woman’ - an unreleased song written by Laura Marling that I’ve become absolutely obsessed with. I’ve found no covers/tabs around the internet, so I’ve worked it out for myself and I’ll record it sometime… Such a gorgeous little song.
I was really scared recording this cover… I know I’d never do the actual song justice and I felt if I did it badly I’d somehow insult its existence and purpose. Laura Marling is really the archetype of most of my musical beliefs and I really hope you enjoy this attempt.

What tops off this song’s brilliance is when Laura cries just about every time she plays it live (in this version you can see her eyes brimming). That sounds cynical I know, but it shows that contemporary music isn’t hollow and candy-coated - artists like Laura Marling have real depth and serenity in what they write.
This song makes me cry, and for god’s sake I want to make people cry by just listening to my music! xD
